"What's your MOQ?" is usually the first question a buyer asks — and the answer hides two completely different supply models. Here is how watch box MOQs actually work, using our own numbers as the reference.

Why custom production needs 500
A custom box is not picked from a shelf — it is made for you. Boards are cut to your dimensions, lacquer is mixed to your Pantone, interiors are fitted to your product, and a production line is reserved for your order. Below a certain run, the setup cost per box becomes unreasonable for both sides. 500 pcs per design is where the math starts working.
Why in-stock starts at 50
In-stock designs were produced in advance — the tooling is paid, the line already ran. You are buying finished goods, so the minimum simply reflects practical picking, packing and export paperwork. We keep 10 designs in stock, from single-slot lacquer boxes to 10-slot collector cases, watch rolls and a winder.
The smart path for a new brand
- Phase 1 — Test (50 units): buy an in-stock design close to your brand's look, ship fast, validate demand.
- Phase 2 — Brand (500 pcs): re-engineer the same design as a custom OEM / ODM project — your logo, materials, finish and interior.
- Phase 3 — Scale: repeat orders at 30-day production cycles, with sampling of new designs (about 15 days) running in parallel.
What a MOQ quote should include
When comparing suppliers on MOQ, make sure the quote states: sampling cost and revision policy, production lead time (ours is about 30 days), payment terms (T/T, 30% deposit / 70% balance), and shipping terms (EXW / FOB Guangzhou, express via DHL, FedEx, UPS). A low MOQ with vague terms usually costs more in the end.
